My name is Martin Sampson and I am the incoming CEO of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association. There are three things that I would love for you to know about me before I start on September 19.

The first is I am DELIGHTED to be here and am very grateful to CPRA’s Board President Mike Roma and the selection committee for seeing enough in me to invite me to take on this important role. Thank you. Being allowed to join CPRA as its new CEO and serve alongside the dedicated professionals across this important sector is an honour, one I will not take lightly.

The second is that my entire career has been preparing me for this job. To be allowed to apply the skills I have developed over the last 20 years to advancing CPRA’s mission is a professional dream come true. This role aligns my extensive experience in public affairs, not-for-profit management, and team leadership with my personal passions. You can learn more about me here.

And third, I am deeply grateful to the CPRA team who have done an outstanding job during this transition. I would particularly like to thank the inimitable Erin Love who served with distinction as CPRA’s Interim CEO. I am pleased that Erin will remain with the team as CPRA’s National Program Manager.

Throughout the fall, I look forward to meeting and learning from you, the passionate people who form the beating heart of this important sector. I invite you to share your thoughts, suggestions, concerns, and ideas with me anytime by emailing martin@cpra.ca.

Onward together!

– Martin
